TELEHEALTH IN ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA

Fun fact: St. Petersburg “The Sunshine City“ is known for its beautiful weather, it even holds a record for having 768 sunny days in a row!

The peninsular city has 244 miles of shoreline and 137 parks and recreation areas.

If all of the walking in St. Pete has your chronic low back pain or sciatica flaring up, do not fear! A telemedicine visit can ascertain the most appropriate treatment to quickly alleviate the back pain and inflammation, and even muscle spasms or back spasms.

The Cons:

Florida is home to many insects, including mosquitos, spiders and scorpions. Fortunately insect bites are common complaints which are easily handled via telehealth!

The Saharan dust blowing over Florida in the summer months has caused a lot of new or recurrent allergies and sinusitis in individuals. Fortunately allergies, upper respiratory tract infections, and sinusitis are common complaints which are also easily handled via telehealth!

Regarding Health and Wellness

Many things nowadays, especially with the assistance of smart technology can be addressed safely, effectively, and conveniently via telehealth or virtual care. For example, many individuals now have automatic blood pressure cuffs, smart watches which monitor the heart rate and even the rhythm, pulse oximetry, blood sugars monitors, and more in their home. These self assessment resources aid the individual, and also help to facilitate the remote health care experience you have with your online doctor or provider.

However, when health really isn’t going as planned, and individuals need hands-on acute or specialty care which cannot be provided via telemedicine, I like to recommend reputable and reliable resources in the community.

Some Activities I Personally Suggest:

  • Take a walk or a run through Fort De Soto Park
  • Visit the St. Pete Pier
  • See the largest collection of Dali’s work in the U.S. in downtown
  • Kayak in Tampa Bay
  • Explore the 245 acre Boyd Hill Preserve
  • See Sunken Gardens botanical park
  • Catch the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg if you happen to be in town!
