TELEHEALTH IN MIAMI, FLORIDA

Fun fact: Download the app Freebee to arrange free rides around downtown Miami, Miami Beach, Miami Lakes, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, Brickell and Wynwood. The rides are via electric cars which resemble golf carts!

Miami is known as  the city of enjoyable beaches with average temperatures in the 70’s, and for its lavish nightlife. Staying active in Miami is very doable given the 800 parks which encourage walking, running, bicycling, tennis playing, swimming, kayaking and more!

If you over indulge in the night life, not to worry, a tele health visit can help to alleviate the symptoms of a hangover, including headache, nausea and sour stomach caused by the inflammation and oxidative stress of ethanol!

To navigate all the city has to offer, Miami offers a 25 mile metrorail, metrobus, metromover, trolley and free electric car transportation.

The Cons:

Florida is home to many insects, including mosquitos, spiders and scorpions. Fortunately insect bites are common complaints which are easily handled via telehealth!

The Saharan dust blowing over Florida in the summer months has caused a lot of new or recurrent allergies and sinusitis in individuals. Fortunately allergies, upper respiratory tract infections, and sinusitis are common complaints which are also easily handled via telehealth!

Regarding Health and Wellness

Many things nowadays, especially with the assistance of smart technology can be addressed safely, effectively, and conveniently via telehealth or virtual care. For example, many individuals now have automatic blood pressure cuffs, smart watches which monitor the heart rate and even the rhythm, pulse oximetry, blood sugars monitors, and more in their home. These self assessment resources aid the individual, and also help to facilitate the remote health care experience you have with your online doctor or provider.

However, when health really isn’t going as planned, and individuals need hands-on acute or specialty care which cannot be provided via telemedicine, I like to recommend reputable and reliable resources in the community.

Some Activities I Personally Suggest:

  • A walk around and an airboat tour of the Everglades National Park
  • A visit to Crandon Park
  • Paddle boarding or sailing in Miami’s Biscayne Bay
  • Visiting Miami Zoo
  • A walk through Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
  • Snorkeling on South Beach with a swim out to Jose Cuervo reef
  • A walk through Wynwood to visit the local galleries and eateries
  • Deep sea fishing
  • Boating to Key West
  • Biking or running in Oleta River State Park
